Rootstown Elementary School

Principal’s Message

Dear Rootstown Elementary Community:

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome back all of Rootstown Elementary’s returning students and parents. I especially want to welcome our new students and parents. For those of you new to the district for the 2023-24 school year,  I am the principal, Jeffrey Turner.  I cordially welcome all of you to the Rover family!

In order for your child(ren) to reach their academic potential, there must be a true partnership between the home and school. We depend on your support and on-going encouragement of your child(ren). This simply means staying in constant communication with your child’s teacher, having them practice their reading, basic math facts, and encouraging them to complete all assigned work.  Remember, we cannot do this alone.

Please feel free to contact the school office, at any time, to leave a message or set up an appointment to talk with your student’s teacher.  Additionally, many teachers use Bloomz and/or email as an additional communication tool should you have questions.

The first week of school, August 29th (grades 1 and 4 attend) and August 30th (grades 2,3,5 attend),  we will be getting acquainted with our students, sharing our PBIS (positive behavioral intervention supports) expectations and building relationships with students.  Particular focus during this time will be on teaching expectations for behavior in the hallway, restroom, playground, cafeteria and classroom.  We appreciate your support with reinforcing these expectations at home.

Please review the PBIS matrix and student handbook links below to assist with conversations you will be having with your child(ren):
