Rootstown Middle School

Principal’s Message

Dear Students, Parents, and Teachers,

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all to our middle school website. As the Principal of this school, I feel privileged to lead a team of dedicated educators who strive to provide the best possible education to our students.

At our school, we believe that education goes beyond the four walls of the classroom. We encourage our students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and become active and responsible citizens of tomorrow. We offer a wide range of academic programs and extracurricular activities that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our students.

Our website is designed to provide you with all the necessary information about our school, including academic programs, extracurricular activities, admission procedures, and much more. We hope that you find the website informative and easy to navigate.

We believe that parents play a crucial role in their child’s education, and we encourage you to stay involved in your child’s academic journey. We have an open-door policy, and we welcome your feedback and suggestions to help us improve.

Finally, I want to reiterate our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for all our students. We believe that every child has the potential to succeed, and we are committed to helping them reach their full potential.

Thank you for your interest in our school, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Cordially,

David H. Kennedy
Principal

About

The Middle School houses students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The school day extends from 7:25 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. A hot lunch is available each day for students to purchase as well as ala-carte items.

Rootstown Schools, in collaboration with the community, will provide a quality education in a safe environment for students to become productive, life-long learners.

The school operates on four 9-weeks grading periods and meets and/or exceeds all the requirements mandated by the Ohio State Department of Education.

A basic curriculum is offered consisting of language arts, math, science, social studies, physical education, art, vocal music, band and computer literacy.

Academic content standards provide a guide to assist the teaching staff in planning instruction and to insure that all concepts and skills are introduced and taught as a student progresses through the grade levels.

The professional teaching staff is highly qualified to teach in each content area.

Classes are available for special needs students.

Interscholastic athletics are available to both girls and boys in grades 7 and 8.

The school receives support from an active PTO organization which provides activities for the students, financial assistance, and support for the staff.
